All of the components inside the GTI are carefully tailored to one another to give the vehicle its distinctively sporty look. This starts with the stainless steel pedals and extends to the decorative trims and hallmark stitching all the way to the black headliner ①. The LED background lighting adds accents of light in all the right places. And you’ll also notice straight away that the digital future has arrived in the cockpit. These features are dominated by high-resolution displays and the majority of functions, like the radio, air conditioning system and lighting, can be operated using touch-sensitive surfaces and sliders. When there is a red line stretching across the front and the radiator grille features a honeycomb design and black air intakes, then there can just be three letters on the badge: GTI. Slim LED headlights, a strikingly dynamic bumper and extended side skirts add even more expression to the sportiness of this legendary vehicle. At the back, the roof spoiler and chrome-plated tail pipes are essential features, while the LED tail light clusters round off the unique appearance.

A touch more intuitive

The classic function knobs in the cockpit have largely made way for touch-sensitive surfaces in the Golf GTI. This allows you to control the Climatronic, for example, simply and intuitively using buttons and sliders. Even the leather trim touch multifunction steering wheel can be operated with a simple tap of the finger. In combination with the intelligent menu navigation you have access to lots of functions. Haptic feedback through gentle vibration confirms every entry.

The standard high-quality “Vienna” leather equipment is smooth, creating a chic, premium feel. The black perforated natural material covers the central seat panels and inner seat bolsters on the front premium sport seats – making the hallmark GTI red stitching look particularly impressive.

Innovision Cockpit

Everything adapts to you

With the Innovision Cockpit both displays, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) and 10.25 inches (26.04 cm), are available. The resulting display landscape not only contains classic content like the rev counter, speedometer and mileage counter, but also other useful data in an even clearer and more detailed display. You can even set up favourite functions on the home screen, just like the way you would configure your smartphone.

The Golf GTI has a digital cockpit pro as standard.

The optional Travel Assist is an extremely practical driver assist system. At the touch of a button, it ensures driving comfort by providing assistance in monotonous and tiring driving situations.

  • It helps you to cope effortlessly with congestion and stop-start traffic with the aid of the DSG dual clutch gearbox.

The highlight in your Golf GTI: IQ.LIGHT

The Golf GTI is already fitted with visibly dynamic LED headlights as standard that stretch all the way round to the side wings, while sleek LED tail light clusters dominate at the rear. You also have the option of equipping your Golf GTI with IQ.LIGHTs. In this case, extra powerful LED matrix headlights fitted with “Dynamic Light Assist” main-beam control light up the road. The package also includes innovative dynamic turn signals that use an animated strip of lights to show which way you are turning.

The new Golf R

Boasting a power output of 235kw and a torque of 400nm, the Golf R takes you from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Its 4MOTION all-wheel drive comes with an impressive torque vectoring system that distributes power variably between the two rear wheels, making the new Golf R agile, easier to handle and confident on sharp corners.

The black performance package with drift mode and increased top speed, from 250km/h to 270km/h, take the Golf R experience to a whole new level.

Driving pleasure

The interior of the new Golf R welcomes you with a level of sporty comfort that you can both see and feel. The driver and front passenger sit back on premium sport seats with built-in head restraints and an R-style design.

For the first time, the configurable Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster, brings together all displays and controls into one special R-view, tailored specifically to the Golf R. Another standard feature: the Discover Media Infotainment system including voice control.

And thanks to the specially designed multifunction sports steering wheel plus R button, the Race profile is always just the touch of a button away.

Shaped for performance

The design of the new Golf R: striking and full of expression. Starting with the brand new front bumper with its front spoiler, side wings and R-style air intake grilles; above the exclusive side aprons and 18-inch Jerez alloy wheels; and stretching through to the running gear, which has been lowered by 20 millimeters–the hallmark of an athlete.

The R Performance package comes with optional highlights including a rear spoiler featuring a motorsport-style design and the 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels. For a superior look, there is the new rear bumper flanked by four chrome-plated twin tailpipes.
