Interior

Lots of space for experiences

The Golf offers you a redesigned, upgraded interior with lots of space and comfort – with comfortable seats (with optional “Vienna” leather, in R-Line and standard in R-Line plus) and plenty of legroom and headroom on all seats. Thanks to the central 12.9 inch touch display, the latest software generation with intuitive usability, Digital Cockpit Pro and multifunction steering wheel with classic buttons all functions are within reach when on the move.

Thanks to the background lighting available in 10 and 30-colour options, the lighting in the vehicle interior can be adjusted entirely as you wish. The electric tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof available as an option can be set up, opened and closed just as you wish. It protects against very intense sunlight thanks to tinted glass and an electric sun blind.

Depending on the equipment a two-level height adjustable luggage compartment floor is also available. In the top position it enables a level load area, which closes off flush with the load sill – with an additional stowage compartment under the floor panel. In the bottom position it ensures even more luggage compartment space – with extra space for bigger items or cases.

Sporty appearance.

The Golf  shows its power through a sporty, dynamic design: The illuminated Volkswagen logo at the front , the striking honeycomb structure of the bumpers, red brake callipers, the roof edge spoiler and the flared sills emphasize its appearance. The diffuser with vertical struts and chrome surround give the vehicle a dynamic appearance.

The iconic golf details such as the blue front trim strip and lettering on the front doors as well as the optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are special highlights : With these, the blue trim strip extends across the entire front. The Golf becomes even more individual with the optional “Black Style” design package: It includes darkened rear windows, black mirror caps, a black front trim strip (replaces the standard blue Golf trim strip) and black headlight surrounds (only in combination with the optional IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights). You can find all the contents of the equipment package in the configurator.

See and be seen

The IQ.LIGHT matrix LED headlights available with Dynamic Light Assist to light up the road ahead, without dazzling other road users. When turning off the optional 3D-LED tail light clusters with animated turn signal indicate the intended direction with a light movement.  The Golf also welcomes you and bids farewell with one of three selectable animations.

Leave the key in your pocket – with the optional Keyless Access locking and starting system your Golf  opens automatically, as soon as your hand approaches the door handle. A simple touch of a button is also enough to start the engine.

The new model has increased to 195 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in  5.9 seconds. You’ll enjoy a high level of comfort with front axle differential lock and progressive steering. Personalise your drive with adjustable steering, engine power and transmission, and choose between Sport, Comfort, Eco or Individual driving profiles.

Rolling in style 

Turn heads and create alloy envy with 19-inch wheels in the new Queenstown design. Featuring a five oval design, a nod to the classic Detroit style, the new wheel puts its own stamp on the Golf GTI with black inner surfaces behind a polished exterior.

Dynamic driving

Experience performance in perfect coordination. The driving dynamics manager syncs and optimises the front axle differential lock, dynamic braking interventions (electronic differential lock XDL) and lateral dynamics components of the controlled dampers for the improved GTI chassis. You choose the driving setup that works for you, including the infinitely adjustable DCC chassis, while the spread of dynamics and comfort is in your control by the electromechanic chassis systems.

Sit back and relax

There’s generous comfort in the sporty interior with the iconic red stitching, premium sports seats, a glossy black centre console and a 12.9 inch touch display. The return of the classic push buttons on the multi-functional leather steering wheel leave dynamic functionality at your fingertips. Open up to the skies – while shading the warm South African sun. When you want it, the tinted glass protects you from intense sun, while the electric sun blind closes the roof completely.

Discover audio & navigation

Stay informed, entertained and heading in the right direction when you need to be. The “Discover audio and navigation” infotainment package has superior audio with speakers at the front and rear, with expansions to include navigation. Connect your phone via Bluetooth, stream your favourite tunes and enjoy digital DAB+ reception. You can charge devices using the USB-C interfaces with up to 45 W charging power, and the adjustable, free-standing 12.9 inch touchscreen makes it easier to use mobile phone apps via App-Connect.

The Golf R

Boasting a power output of 235kw and a torque of 400nm, the Golf R takes you from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Its 4MOTION all-wheel drive comes with an impressive torque vectoring system that distributes power variably between the two rear wheels, making the new Golf R agile, easier to handle and confident on sharp corners.

The black performance package with drift mode and increased top speed, from 250km/h to 270km/h, take the Golf R experience to a whole new level.

Driving pleasure

Shaped for performance

The design of the new Golf R: striking and full of expression. Starting with the brand new front bumper with its front spoiler, side wings and R-style air intake grilles; above the exclusive side aprons and 18-inch Jerez alloy wheels; and stretching through to the running gear, which has been lowered by 20 millimeters–the hallmark of an athlete.

The R Performance package comes with optional highlights including a rear spoiler featuring a motorsport-style design and the 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels. For a superior look, there is the new rear bumper flanked by four chrome-plated twin tailpipes.
